Sherlock Holmes kid lit

Derrick Belanger`s The Amazing Airship Adventure  is a charming and original book  about two apparently ordinary kids who live in 1897 London.   But young Jimmy and Emma  MacDougall are far from average: they are budding  10-year-old detectives who  sometimes work with the famed sleuth  Sherlock Holmes.  Both siblings have talents suited to this sort of work.  Much like Holmes, Emma makes it a point to notice life`s minute details.  Jimmy has mechanical aptitude and is also skilled at disguises (one of the best scenes in the story has him dress as an older man in order to get information from a …

Box Office Review: Nightcrawler

Box Office Review: Nightcrawler

nightcrawler main Box Office Review: Nightcrawler

Have you ever come to a realization while watching a film that the acting unfolding before your eyes could very well be an Oscar winning performance? I experienced that sensation about halfway through Nightcrawler.  In case you’re wondering, this film is not about Marvel’s blue-skinned, fanged, cloven-hoofed teleporter. It’s actually about a man who forges a career as a video reporter in Los Angeles.

To say that Nightcrawler is a great movie wouldn’t come close to explaining how good this film is. It’s a freaking awesome movie, and much of the film’s accomplishment must be credited to Jake Gyllenhaal, who turns …

AKB48, A Musical Collection; Part 5!

AKB48, A Musical Collection; Part 5!

Last time I talked about the music, including some of my favorites like UZA—I hope YOU enjoyed the videos.

Now, I want to talk about…

Oshimen (Number 1 Favorite):

For me, my journey into AKB48 started in 2007, I was doing a photo search and came across Minami Takahashi—at the time, I saw a pretty, little Japanese girl with black hair in what appeared to be a top ponytail. (The photo is below). Her face was so pretty and she just seemed to grab me instantly. So, I went into the page it was on and found out that the group …

Masters of the Universe Club Etheria: October- Sweet Bee and Light Hope!

Masters of the Universe Club Etheria: October- Sweet Bee and Light Hope!

There are moments in my life when collecting can be a bit of a drag. Nothing could ever stop me from collecting, short of living under a bridge, but lately I have felt less like collecting and more like unloading things. It’s just a phase I’ve been in. Of course after five years of collecting Masters of the Universe Classics it would only make sense that there are moments of ebb and flow. However just when I thought it was safe to stop caring, Mattel pulls me right back in and I’m falling in love all over again. October was the …

Masters of the Universe Classics: October- Eldor

Masters of the Universe Classics: October- Eldor

October was full of tricks and treats for Masters of the Universe Classics fans. Actually, I’m not really sure of the tricks, so let’s just check out the treats. For the basic Club Eternia sub, fans got Eldor the Heroic Guardian of the Book of Living Spells. Let’s look!

172 Masters of the Universe Classics: October Eldor

A character from the Preternia faction of MOTUC, Eldor is just as his name implies; an old man. That’s the beauty of the MOTU mythos. Most of the character’s names really describe certain attributes. Eldor comes with his Book of Living Spells and a staff. For this review Eldor will be kept …

AKB48: A Musical Collection, Part 4!

AKB48: A Musical Collection, Part 4!

Last time, I talked about that dark side and graduation; this time, I want to focus on the music—after all, they do sing and dance.

UZA:

UZA Grls AKB48: A Musical Collection, Part 4!

In the middle is Minami Takahashi, my AKB48 Oshimen or Number 1 favorite. She is the lord of the yakUZA and looks like she is going to fuck someone’s shit up—holding her Kiseru (pipe), she stares down at the rival families and wears a beautiful Kimono.

On the left and right are her thugs.

On the left is Tomomi Itano who Graduated in 2013. One of the original members from the cover of the first …

Haunting Experience At Knott’s Scary Farm 2014

Haunting Experience At Knott’s Scary Farm 2014

tv Haunting Experience At Knotts Scary Farm 2014

Knott’s Scary Farm has been around for 42 years and they raised it to a new level this year.  The past couple of years for Scary Farm has been lackluster with “monsters” talking to each other and brightly lit mazes.  Those are all gone this year and the attention to detail is superb.  My favorite experience was Special Ops: Infected.  I’ve never felt an adrenaline rush with a Halloween attraction.

Breakdown of Special Ops: Infected

I was handed a recoiled gun from 2 funny, bad ass military personnel as we make our escape from a Zombiepocalypse.  What makes this experience so …

AKB48: A Musical Collection! Part 3

AKB48: A Musical Collection! Part 3

In the last part of AKB, I talked about the older members and SDN48; also covered was the awesome DVD concert. In this part I will talk about Graduation, Scandal and other fun things that surround the group.

But first…How old is she?

How Old AKB48: A Musical Collection! Part 3

Think about it and all will be revealed at the end—NO CHEATING!!!

Graduation:

AKB48 is built like an all girls school, so to say; and there are two forms of graduation, the first is graduating from training. Training ends, when it ends…each individual has a different length of time in which they learn the dance steps, the lyrics …

Comic Book Review: Death of Wolverine

Comic Book Review: Death of Wolverine

520223 1024x576 Comic Book Review: Death of Wolverine

The Death of Wolverine by Charles Soule and Steve McNiven is one of the most important comics to come out in the last few years, a statement which I do not make lightly. In a medium infamous for its gimmicky, poorly thought out and (mostly) poorly written Death of *insert character name here* story-lines, Death of Wolverine is the shining exception to the previous two rules.

Will it make just as much money if not more than a standard gimmick death? Sure it will, hell it probably already has. But the story itself has so much to offer for both die-hard …
