Anime Expo never fails to impress me with the cosplayers.  I think they’re the best out of all the conventions and that includes Comic-Con!  Below are awesome costumes from AX 2012.  Usually there’s a theme every year like Vocaloid or Naruto but this year was all about variety from your favorite anime to video games and movies.

Enjoy!

WonderCon Going Back To SF?

WonderCon Going Back To SF?

Anaheim was the host of WonderCon this year because the original place of Moscone Center in SF was renovated.   It was suppose to be a one time event in Anaheim but Comic-Con PR, David Glanzer said he’s not sure where WonderCon will end up next.  In an interview with icv2, he mentions that it’s hard to plan ahead with Moscone Center because they don’t know the available dates 6 months prior to the event.  He’s not sure if there were more attendees at Anaheim because he doesn’t have the final numbers but from what he saw, it seemed like the …

Long Beach Comic Con This Weekend

Long Beach Comic Con This Weekend

lbcc 2011 71 Long Beach Comic Con This Weekend

Long Beach Comic Con has 2 events every year.  The big one is in October and the smaller one is in May.  This year it’s this Saturday and I’m looking forward to it.  Small shows are perfect to get commissions from artists because it’s not as crowded.  Artists aren’t in a rush and will take their time with their artwork.  It’s also good to pick up art prints, usually at $10 or $15.  I’m also going to hunt for cheap comics including Batman #9.  The best part with a convention is buying the unexpected, whether it’s an action figure or a …

6 Close To $300 And I Wanted More WonderCon Haul

I sold most of my collectibles several years ago because I was in a crappy situation that I had no control over.  I sold my favorite figures including Spawn, DC & Marvel figures.  The Batman figures & statues I sold hurt the most because it was the Caped Crusader that introduced me to nerdom.  Luckily, I sold most of it to my close friend so it doesn’t hurt as bad because I know it’s well taken care of.  After selling most of my collection, I promised myself not to collect anymore because it broke my heart.  Throughout the years, my friends …

Wow!  It’s less than a week away to WonderCon and I’m hyped up more than ever for this weekend’s comic convention.  WonderCon is run by the same guys which also organizes one and only Comic Con in San Diego.  WonderCon is like its little brother and usually held in San Francisco.  But the convention center up there is in construction so they’ve decided to move it to Anaheim convention center this year, my backyard.

I wasn’t too thrilled about the event but ever since they announced the full program last week, I’m starting to geek up.  While Hollywood will have its …

animevegas Highlights From Anime Vegas 8 2011 Part 2

Anime Vegas is a 3 day convention that takes place at the Alexis Park Resort in Las Vegas, NV.  In its eighth year, the event celebrates all things anime and has a friendly, warm atmosphere that you might not get from some of the larger, more populated cons.  There were numerous guest panels with voice-over artists, producers and illustrators, a charity auction, dealer exhibits, screening rooms showing AMVs and anime, a lounge with DJs and interactive games, and a live music showcase featuring musicians hailing from all over the world, but mostly the U.S. and Japan.

Executive President of Anime Vegas …

anime Highlights of Anime Vegas 8 Part 1

There was a great turnout this past weekend at Anime Vegas.  Moving the event to November was definitely a good idea since the weather is so much more bearable this time of year.  There was so much to see and do there over the weekend.  The costumes were amazing as always.  Cosplayers at this gathering keep outdoing themselves.  I love seeing all the work that goes into these outfits.    The vibe at this con is always friendly and relaxed.

Check back for part 2 for more specifics about the event.  Here are pics of some of the costumes:

On Saturday, I checked out Long Beach Comic Con to mingle with the artists, check out the cosplayers and of course, to  find great bargains on comics and collectibles.  I knew that superstar artist, David Finch (Batman) had his own table at the con but I was playing it by ear whether I was going to get a quick sketch for him.  Last time he appeared at Wonder Con (comic convention in San Francisco), the line was really long and people were running to his table.  Much to my surprise, …
