Google Earth Used For Town Revenue

Due to the economic downfalls, cities are finding ways to make money.  In the city of Long Island, NY, they’ve found a way to make an extra $75k to make money by using a free tool:  Google Earth.  The city charges $300 for a pool permit but they wanted to check out which ones were paid for.  They checked Google Earth, zoomed in on neighborhoods and found about 250 homes without permits.  They contacted the home owners without the pool permits and most of them coughed up the fee.

That’s smart thinking right there.  I bet other cities will follow this method.
