G.I. Joe: Series 2, Season 2 DVD Review!

GI Joe FS 1 G.I. Joe: Series 2, Season 2 DVD Review!

“Got to get tough, YO JOE!” Man, was this a blast from the past, I remember 1991 where I was getting older and my interest was starting to wane from the usual cartoons; however, I never missed G.I. Joe.

The last 2 seasons of G.I. Joe were made by DiC who is famous for ‘Inspector Gadget’ and ‘Kidd Video’ and are known for really nice cartoon art and great voice acting and this final series of G.I. Joe really showcased some fine voice work.

Shout Factory issues a lot of great media and this 20 episode, 3 DVD set of G.I. …

Blu-ray Review: The Secret World of Arrietty

Secret World 1 Blu ray Review: The Secret World of Arrietty

The Secret World of Arrietty is another lush, visually enthralling classic from Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli. Dubbed with great care by Disney and now on blu-ray with an amazing transfer, the movie springs to life. Based on the novel The Borrowers and written by the master Miyazaki, the look of the movie is quite stunning and full of vibrant life. The story also has a gentle message about respecting all creatures and beings regardless of their size or place in the food chain. Far from preachy, the movie is also just a fun adventure that bounces along from one great …

GIJoe R Cover 808x1024 DVD Review: G.I. Joe Renegades!

Although “he” still fights for freedom wherever there’s trouble, G.I. Joe is there—in a different form. In a world controlled falsely by Cobra, five “Regular Joes” travel the country in search of evidence to prove that Cobra is not who they say they are—a family company who is looking out for “you.”

Coming soon to DVD is Season 1 Volume 1 of G.I. Joe Renegades. Renegades is somewhat based off of The Rise of Cobra movie, however it holds its own as a fresh new version of the property.

At the beginning of the first episode, there is a great public …

She-Ra: Princess of Power!

She-Ra: Princess of Power!

For years I’ve been trying to get a hold of a decently carded She-Ra from the vintage Princess of Power toy line and that day has finally come!

SheRa Vint 1 658x1024 She Ra: Princess of Power!

She-Ra: The Most Powerful Woman in the Universe, is the sister of He-Man OR her true identity of Princess Adora is the sister of Prince Adam, the true identity of He-Man: The Most Powerful Man in the Universe. (Of course, most of you already know that)!

She-Ra is copyrighted 1984 and is an action doll, she was built like an action figure but has rooted hair and cloth clothing. She-Ra includes a multitude …

Movie Review: The Avengers

Avengers Movie Review: The Avengers

The Avengers isn’t the best superhero movie of all time (as many are saying), but it is a whole lot of fun. Well-cast, paced, and executed, it’s a crowd-pleaser with a ton of great moments, and some surprisingly funny ones as well. Joss Whedon does an admirable job of making this huge blockbuster a film that works on all levels. It’s far from perfect though. Overlong and a tedious first 30-40 minutes make seal its fate when comparing it to Nolan’s Batman films and Spider-man 2. I also preferred X-Men: First Class to The Avengers. Once the movie gets going though, …

X Men Anime3 DVD Review: X Men Anime

The X-Men are a hugely popular comic book and franchise from Marvel that has been around for eons. Last seen on the big screen in the impressive X-Men: First Class, they return in this 2 DVD set of the complete series of the anime. The series contains all 12 episodes and a few special features. The animation from the legendary MADHOUSE is first-rate, and while the story is un-even, there’s enough going on to give it a positive review. The character designs are clean and fresh and the action scenes are beautifully animated while the voice work is also top-notch. My …

tmnt 5 5 Reasons Why TMNT Reboot Will Suck

This week’s biggest news is that Michael Bay is producing a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie and they’re going to be aliens.  The backlash started right away and Bay told the TMNT fans to take a chill pill.  Then CBR reported today that half TMNT creator, Kevin Eastman supported the change.  Eastman said on FB:

“Sorry to have been away for so long–completely swamped with work–but it is some pretty exciting stuff.  I had been invited to check out the TMNT film development by my friend Scott Mednick over the years, and a while back had a full look behind …

Game of Thrones Blu ray Review: Game of Thrones: The Complete First Season

Game of Thrones is just what the doctor ordered for fantasy fans. It’s a big, gory epic with great acting and excellent production values. The “game” is really a play for power between different factions and Game of Thrones isn’t just a series for fantasy fans, it’s a series for fans of great drama as well. The blu-ray set is simply gorgeous. The picture and audio are damn close to flawless while there are copious extras for fans to watch and enjoy. All ten episodes of the first season are included in this handsome, boxed set.

Describing Game of Thrones can …

Ghost Rider Movie Review: Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

After a less than promising first movie, Ghost Rider rides once again in a new movie co-written by one of Batman’s saviors, David S Goyer and directed by Neveldine/Taylor, the two hipsters who made the Crank films such bloody, good fun. Alas, this Ghost Rider is an incoherent, cheap-looking dud. Laughably acted, poorly written, even the lighting is terrible. This ugly looking dud can’t even come up with decent action scenes. The special effects are OK at best and certain scenes go on far too long, which is hard to believe, considering the fact that the film has a runtime of …

Movie Review: Chronicle

Movie Review: Chronicle

Chronicle Poster Movie Review: Chronicle

Chronicle is a fresh and entertaining take on the whole “found footage” genre. It’s not a horror movie at all, it’s more of a superhero morality play. It’s also grounded in the reality of its subjects and teen angst. Unlike the overrated Blair Witch Project and Cloverfield, the whole “shaky cam” bit is kept to a minimum, while the special effects are seamless and extremely effective. Chronicle also benefits from some nice acting from its mostly unknown cast and a lean running time that never overstays its welcome. Movie critics (who clearly don’t watch much TV) are missing out on the …
