Halloween is my favorite holiday of the year (besides Christmas) and not just because I get to wear a costume. Half of the fun for me is using my sculpting skills to create artwork out of that humongous orange squash. I’ve been in a few pumpkin carving contests at friends’ parties and such and I’ve noticed strategies among the contestants.

Some people come prepared with designs that they planned out before-hand, either drawn out on paper or mapped out in their heads. Others, like me, wait until they see the actual pumpkin before letting their creative inspiration happen spontaneously.  I usually try to carve something Halloweeny, but after seeing some of these designs, I definitely think it’s time to branch out.
