UFC 79: Nemesis Predictions

liddellsilva UFC 79: Nemesis Predictions

I hope all of you guys had a great Christmas! This month ends with a bang with one of the greatest UFC cards in history. Will it be the best? I hope so, on paper, this event looks solid from beginning to end. I’m very excited about this event. Without further ado, here are my predictions:

Matt Hughes vs. Georges St-Pierre
This will be for the interim belt and the rubber match between the two fighters. Originally it was supposed to be Matt Hughes vs. Matt Serra. But since Serra got injured a couple of weeks ago, St-Pierre stepped up to …

Kingdom – HD DVD Review

Kingdom – HD DVD Review

kingdom Kingdom HD DVD Review

Kingdom shows the shaky relationship between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia. Universal marketed the movie as an action packed but it is misleading. While the movie has some impressive action set-pieces, the story is the main attraction. From the get go, we get an impressive intro of the history of Saudi Arabia’s rise to wealth and the U.S. alliance.

Story consists of a deadly attack in an American compound in Saudi Arabia. An FBI team, lead by Ronald Fleury (Jamie Foxx) is sent to investigate. Along the way, Fleury’s team, which consists of Jeniffer Garner, Chris Cooper and Jason Bateman encounter …

What’s Wrong with the Future?

What’s Wrong with the Future?

auto flying Whats Wrong with the Future?

So I was at a party and we were talking about a Sci-Fi TV show.  It somehow ended up to a conversation about how it’s geeky to be into spaceships and NASA and all that jazz.  So that got me thinking.  Why is being able to fly a space craft into space considered nerdy and not like the coolest thing in the world?

I wonder if people in the past century called Henry Ford nerdy for dreaming of a mass assembly automobile line? …

Film Review: I Am Legend

Film Review: I Am Legend

iamlegend Film Review: I Am Legend

Dogs from the Resident Evil franchise? Check. Lame villain from 28 weeks later? Check. Reapers from Blade 2? Check. What do you get when you combine all these elements? I Am Legend, a movie that did not know whether it wanted to be serious or an action flick.

Director Francis Lawrence (Constantine) tries to combine both and fails miserably. The movie starts with Will Smith’s character Robert Neville roaming an empty New York City in his Shelby GT500. Soon enough, we find out that he’s the last man on Earth and there are deadly creatures that only come out at night. …

Film Review: The Mist

Film Review: The Mist

stephenkingsthemist galleryposter Film Review: The Mist

The Mist is an entertaining horror/suspense romp with pretensions of social commentary and a film that wants to be a cautionary fable with a haunting ending.  It mostly succeeds.  It’s based on a Stephen King story (and features many of his trademarks) and is written and directed by the excellent Frank Darabont.  The film works best though as a wildly exciting creature feature with lots of gore and good performances from many of the actors in the film.  I think the film tries too hard at times but I enjoyed it and it certainly deserved a better fate than …

Film Review: Blade Runner: The Final Cut

Film Review: Blade Runner: The Final Cut

bladerunner galleryposter Film Review: Blade Runner: The Final Cut

Blade Runner is easily one of the most influential films ever made.  It’s glistening metropolis backdrop and production design have been copied (sorry, lifted) over and over again in everything from Dark City to the anime classic Akira.  The director of Ghost in the Shell (the anime film that influenced The Matrix) said in an interview that its one of his biggest influences, the list goes on and on.  In Ghost in the Shell:  Innocence androids (or replicants) wax poetic about what it means to be man or machine.   The lead character is tracking pleasure droids run amok.  Darryl Hannah …

banner 1st Annual MMA Expo

The first ever MMA Expo was held at Anaheim Convention Center over the weekend. Went on Saturday. Got at the convention center around 1:30. The expo was smaller than I thought, it was only in one hall. Just to give you how small that is, Anime Expo covers the whole convention center.

First thing we did was walk around and looked for some grappling shorts. Went to Dan Henderson’s booth, Clinch Gear and they had a pair for $40. Me and my brother both bought one. The guy at the booth gave us both a $25 shirt for free. Great deal! …
