Hasbro and Paramount pictures released G.I. Joe Retaliation this past Friday (March 29th, 2013) amid a very interesting course of events. The movie was supposed to have come out this past summer, but was changed a few months before. Fans every which way had their theories as to why this was happening, but Paramount was only able to say that they wanted to convert the movie for a 3D experience and that was the reason for the new delay.

Messing with a classic like The Wizard of Oz is a dangerous proposition. The film is so beloved that you’re almost guaranteed the wraith of its many fans by even attempting a remake. Oz the Great and Powerful mostly avoids this by being a prequel concerning a lesser character (Oz) and not mentioning Dorothy at all. Oz is made with a great deal of skill and some eye-popping effects but little of the heart and soul that made the original so memorable. Years after Evangelion went by the way side but remained in the memories of fans, Hideaki Anno revived the series in 2007 with The Rebuild of Evangelion. The Rebuild is a series of movies that take a lot from the original Anime series and updates it with cleaner, more modern art and animation and alterations to the story through the plotlines and even whole scenes are changed in order to give the Rebuild of Evangelion a new look.

Sy Fy Channel’s take on Real Steel is an engaging and fun hour series. Robot Combat League started last night on Sy Fy and after a slow start, it was loads of mindless fun. Smarmy/likable WWE star Chris Jericho with his charismatic presence and amused smirk, is the perfect host for this fun bit of robot smashing action.
