12? Star Wars Vintage Figures

If you are a big Han Solo and Chewbacca fan, then here’s something big for you. An exact replica of the original Star Wars action figures, only this time it will be 12-inches tall.

Staying honest to its original versions, these figures look horrendous. But, if you were a kid growing up when these first came out, then these ugly babies would have a place in your heart nomatter what.

DVD Pick of the Week: Jinzo Ningen Kikaida!

kikaida 1024x768 DVD Pick of the Week: Jinzo Ningen Kikaida!

Before there was the Power Rangers, or any other Japanese-inspired, live-action, superhero television show on for that matter, two series aired in Hawai’i and briefly in various cities around the continental U.S. called  Kikaider and Kamen Rider V3.

kikaider01 262x300 DVD Pick of the Week: Jinzo Ningen Kikaida!Anyone who grew up in Hawai’i in the 70’s and 80’s knows about Kikaida and Kamen Rider V3.  They were tokusatsu (live-action superhero) shows which aired on an all-Japanese channel and although many of the young viewers could not understand the Japanese language, they fell in love with these shows nonetheless.   Many could not even read English well enough to …

Movie Review: Easy A

Movie Review: Easy A

EASY A Movie Review: Easy A

Easy A is an amusing, teen comedy spin on The Scarlett Letter. The movie takes its inspiration from the classic (but hard to read or enjoy) novel. Easy A is very much in the vain of Clueless or 10 Things I Hate About You, but its script isn’t as clever as either of those two films. It’s more mildly amusing than laugh out loud funny. Still, Easy A hits on some truths about the pain of high school life and the obvious double standard involving sex. Guys get congrats and body bumps for having a lot of sex, while girls are …

Weekend Movie Roundup Review: Nuns Are Easy Edition

town movie poster 1020554239 Weekend Movie Roundup Review: Nuns Are Easy Edition

Lots of good movies are coming out this weekend.  Ben Affleck is in a crime drama, while Emma Stone (Superbad) is in a Juno type flick.  For all you Facebook lovers, there’s a suspense thriller called Catfish.  Devil, produced by M Night seems to be a stinker.  Let’s take a look at the reviews.

Directed and starring Ben Affleck, The Town is getting a nearly perfect review with 90% at Rotten Tomatoes.  The crime drama is described as part Heat and part Mystic River.  Filmcritic.com describes it as “Compelling, complex, and crackling with suspense, Affleck’s sophomore effort is every bit as …

Chuck Season 31 Blu Ray Review: Chuck Season 3

Show:
With ratings not as high as NBC hoped, the crreators of Chuck didn’t expect to get a renewal for a third season.  The second season tied up all the loose ends with Chuck (Zachary Levi) becoming a spy, his mentor and romantic interest, Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski) falling for him and his best friend Morgan following his dreams.  But with hardcore fan support and budget cuts, Chuck was renewed for a third season by NBC.  The season starts off with Chuck failing a spy test and it gets worse as he gets kicked out from the program and loses his love, …

Movie Review: Resident Evil: Afterlife 3D

Movie Review: Resident Evil: Afterlife 3D

Resident Evil 11 Movie Review: Resident Evil: Afterlife 3D

Resident Evil: Afterlife is loud, inane, often dumb, in other words, a near perfect addition to the Resident Evil franchise. I have great affection for the first two Resident Evil flicks, while the 3rd one was somewhat lacking. It was basically a Mad Max clone that wasn’t bad, but only rousing from time to time. Original director and slick hack Paul W.S Anderson is back in the director’s chair and he brings with him a bag of 3D tricks and some kick-ass action scenes. Turn your brain off and enjoy the ride.

Resident Evil: Afterlife picks up after the events of …

Chloe Moretz Stars in Let Me In

Chloe Moretz Stars in Let Me In

Chloe Moretz aka “Hit Girl,” the little purple-haired tornado from Kick Ass, has a new movie coming out on October 1, 2010. Let Me In is the American remake of the Swedish Let the Right One In, a very creepy thriller/horror about a lonely, young boy who befriends a mysterious girl. When I saw the first one, I had no idea what the plot was about so figuring it out was a huge payoff for me. Watch the previews at your own risk because as typical of many movie trailers these days, you feel like you’ve watched the entire …
