What’s going on here? Is he really buying Comics or is this a publicity stunt. I mean doesn’t Marvel send him all the research material he needs? Still cool how he takes his time and mingle with the fans.…

HTC Droid Incredible Verizon Wireless HTC Pays George Lucas For DROID Copyrights

So there was something very interesting I noticed while watching the commercials for the new HTC DROID Incredible phone, Verizon’s new exclusive phone.  At the end of the commercial at the bottom of the screen in not so visible lettering it says “DROID is a trademark of Lucasfilm Ltd.”

So it turns  out that indeed George Lucas owns the rights to the word “Droid,”  the copyright was registered in 1977 before the release of STAR WARS: A New Hope.  So you’d think that since they’re already paying for the licensing they’d at least come out with a couple Star Wars …

Nerd Flashback: Ecto-Cooler

Nerd Flashback: Ecto-Cooler

ecto cooler Nerd Flashback: Ecto Cooler

The year was 1984. The movie Ghostbusters was huge, so huge it spawned its own Saturday morning cartoon, The Real Ghostbusters.  During the time the show ran producers had made a promotional deal with the juice brand Hi-C. Tied in with the show the trusted juice box brand to kids everywhere released Ecto-Cooler, the box featured the lovable Ghostbusters’ character Slimer.  The drink was only expected to last as long as the show, but due to the overwhelming success, the product continued to be produced long after the cancellation of the series in 1991.  It wasn’t until 1997 that …

The makers of Malibu Rum have come up with an interesting idea, allowing you to create your own bottle design.  To many vynl collectors the bottles blank white surface may remind you of the customizable Munny, only you customize completely online and once your done you can’t have it.  Its still a cool idea but I wish they would allow you to purchase your bottle design the same way Converse allows you to buy the shoes you can create on their website.

You can customize your own bottle at MalibuRum.com

Here’s a couple I’ve made:

Gary Coleman Leaves Us…

Gary Coleman Leaves Us…

The star of 70’s sitcom Diff’rent Strokes; Gary Coleman passed away at age 42 from a brain hemorrhage caused from a fall.

GC3 Gary Coleman Leaves Us...

I remember Gary Coleman very well growing up, I loved Diff’rent Strokes, it was one of those shows that was well-written and very funny. The acting from the mostly young group was exceptional as far as I’m concerned (especially compared to the duds of today).

Gary Coleman made an appearance on the pilot of Diff’rent Strokes spin-off “The Facts of Life” which featured his characters “sister” played by Dana Plato and starred Charlotte Rae whom was the house keeper …

I Say Goodbye to Smallville

I Say Goodbye to Smallville

Smallville 1 I Say Goodbye to Smallville

When Smallville debuted in 2001, I was 21 years old. It was a different time back then and the series is ending after 10 seasons next year. My parents were pretty healthy and we used to watch the show together. I was in college at the time and I found the series refreshing and loved the way’s that young Clark Kent’s powers were filtered through his own teen angst and puberty. When he developed heat vision for instance, he couldn’t control it, his hormones raged out of control. Developing x-ray vision gave him the chance to see underneath the clothes of …

Star Wars Day With Dodgers

Star Wars Day With Dodgers

boba Star Wars Day With Dodgers

While I follow the Dodgers, I only go to their games once every couple of years.  I live in Orange County and the drive to Chávez Ravine is just terrible.  But come this Friday, May 21st, I might just go.   The reason I’d go is that the Dodgers are celebrating Empire Strikes Back’s 30th anniversary.  They’re going to have characters such as Yoda, Boba Fett and the Stormtroopers at the stadium.  Han Solo’s bff, Chewbacca will be throwing the first pitch.  If that wasn’t enough, the first 20,000 fans will get an exclusive Star Wars/Dodgers poster.

Event:
Dodgers vs Tigers
