This is an extremely difficult film to review and it was pretty difficult to watch at times.  There’s no driving narrative behind it and it remains an elaborate mystery to me.  It’s a love it or loathe it type of film and I’m sure many will loathe it. It’s David Lynch at his most “Lynchian”, but it’s also brilliant in its own warped way.  Lynch is at the top of his game here getting great performances all around and ramping up his nightmare/creep show gimmicks to a fever pitch.  You may not have a clue what is going on but you …

” I like men now ! “
— The Simpsons Movie

The Simpsons is a classic animated television series that I grew up watching.  It’s been a consistently hilarious, clever and smart series for much of its run.  There’s no doubt that the show has lost some steam in recent seasons and has been very uneven, but its still very funny and at times as relevant as ever.  The Simpsons Movie continues the tradition of earlier episodes of the series mixing the clever and the stupid, the sublime and the

I-NO

I-NO

I-no is made of win. I-no’s not I-no without the bitch. Here I present you some progress pictures of the next costume for Anime LA (in January…). From now on, anything made by the same red vinyl cloth used for the skirt will have the prefix hooker-. Indeed.

…As is, my roommate Ashley will cosplay as A.B.A. Should be hella fun.

ggi cs in I NO

Yesterday I got I-no’s skirt and a glove done. Yep. That hooker skirt and glove took a whole day to do. Gloves can go to hell (along with my point and shoot camera). And it’s not even fingered! I’m almost

ratatouille Film Review: Ratatouille

Eh. It’s only a three starrer. Just like The Incredibles, there was something missing in the movie as a whole. The plot was mediocre– rat breaks away from family, loser is a loser until he meets rat and becomes a winner, relationship between the both reaches a ditch, ditch is overcome, everyone is happy. But I think that’s the thing here. It was only centered around those specific two characters. Not that there’s anything wrong with that considering hey, that’s the plot, but the plot could be spruced up a bit. For crying out loud, it takes place in a kitchen …

Last Tuesday on myspace, I found out Josh Barnett was going to teach at Erik Paulson’s(Barnett’s main trainer) school on Wednesday. Since Erik Paulson’s school is about 25 minutes from where I live, I decided to check it out.

Most MMA North American fans has probably never heard of Josh Barnett since he mostly fights in Japan. So let me tell you a little bit about Barnett. He is one of the top 5 MMA heavyweights in the world. He was a former UFC Heavyweight champ beating Randy “The Natural” Couture. After not getting along with the UFC president, Dana White. …

Link to the article.

Hmmm, one of the top games I’ve been waiting for has been pushed back to 2008. The main reason’s because of the time intensive nature of doing a multi-platform release. As long as they’re taking their time to making a better game, I’m all for it.

Doesn’t change the fact that I have the urge to buy the next gen consoles; either an Xbox 360 or PS3. It’s a tough choice for me too since both consoles are releasing some exclusives that I want. In the Sony camp, they have MGS4, Heavenly Sword, Killzone 2, Uncharted, and …

  DVD Review: The Monster Squad

The Monster Squad was one of my favorite films when I was a kid.  It’s a very simple film aimed at teens and tweens that is basically “The Goonies” with Universal monsters.  You have a rag-tag group of kids who have to defend the world (no one believes monsters are real of course) against Count Dracula, The Wolfman, Gill-man, The Mummy, and Frankenstein.  The Count is attempting to get possession of a mystical amulet that will give him control over the balance of good and evil and he has until midnight to obtain it.  The kids (who meet in a …

” We Spartans have descended from Hercules himself. Taught never to retreat, never to surrender. Taught that death in the battlefield is the greatest glory he could achieve in his life. Spartans: the finest soldiers the world has ever known. ”

— King Leonidas

300 is the highly anticipated, bloody (and faithful, I’m told) adaption of Frank Miller’s graphic novel, directed by Zach Snyder, the kid who directed the remake of Dawn of the Dead with tons of energy and style.  He’s the right director for the job.

“300” concerns the 480 B.C. Battle of Thermopylae, where the King of Sparta …
