Marvel Scared of Dark Themes?

ant man movie logo 1024x690 Marvel Scared of Dark Themes?

With the recent news that Scott Lang would be the Ant-Man in the upcoming Edgar Wright film in 2014 and Hank Pym passing the mantle to Lang, I got to thinking is this just Marvels way of keeping the darker themes out of their movies?

The MCU is known to be accessible to everyone and this has given them hundreds of millions of dollars from their movies and toys based on the movies etc. But news of Hank Pym just being the guy passing down the mantle of Ant-Man to Scott Lang and just being a secondary character, along with Demon …

Now I know that a lot of people are skeptical about the news of a DC Cinematic Universe, many say it can’t be done or it’ll just be a rip off of what Marvel’s doing. I can definitely see where these people are coming from and I can understand the skepticism.  But this got me thinking, how would a DC Cinematic Universe work? So I came up with some ideas and decided to share them with you guys.

1)  CHOOSE THE LEADING HEROES OF THE UNIVERSE

Out of all of the Marvel heroes, the 4 heavy hitters that were ultimately picked …

Avatar: The Last Airbender Book 1 Review

Avatar .The .Last .Airbender Avatar: The Last Airbender Book 1 Review

Since Legend of Korra finished its first season a month ago, I decided to revisit one of the best animated series of all time once more after more than 2 years of last seeing it. And boy it’s still as great as I remember it back then. I was initially hesitant to watch Avatar TLA again, I watched it so many times 2 years ago and have such fond memories of it.

I thought now that I’m older I wouldn’t like it as much. However now that I’ve watched Book 1: Water again, I must say this is a way better …

Movie Review: The Dark Knight Rises

Movie Review: The Dark Knight Rises

Dark Knight Rises 1 Movie Review: The Dark Knight Rises

The Dark Knight Rises is truly the movie event of the year for comic book fans. There’s a sense of dread and menace running throughout the entire movie that makes it work on a whole nother level that a film like The Avengers does not work on. The Avengers has a big alien menace that threatens to take over the world, but never once did the viewer worry that the heroes would not triumph. In THe Dark Knight Rises, the darkness is everywhere and threatens to destroy Gotham. The performances are excellent while the action scenes are exciting and once again, …

TDK P3 1600 The Dark Knight Rises Review (Minor Spoilers!!!)

I know I’m late, but the première was last night and I am ready to give you guys my thoughts on Nolan’s final Batman movie. The Dark Knight Rises takes place 8 years after the last film, Gotham has destroyed organized crime through the Dent Act.  Harvey Dent is called a true hero while Batman is still the most wanted man in the city despite nearly a decade since his last appearance and Bruce Wayne has not left his manor since the Joker killings.

What immediately made this film work is that the choices and actions of all the characters from …

Transformers Prime- One Shall Stand: DVD Review!

Transformers Prime- One Shall Stand: DVD Review!

TF PRIME 1 720x1024 Transformers Prime One Shall Stand: DVD Review!

From Hasbro and Shout Factory comes Transformers Prime- One Shall Stand on DVD. Transformers Prime is the current animated program featuring everyone’s favorite transforming robots! Animated in CGI, the details of the robots are great; however Optimus Prime has the most detail down to scratched paint. With favorite characters appearing such as Bumblebee, Bulkhead, Ratchet and Arcee, the Autobots battle the Decepticons for control of the Earth.

Transformers Prime follows in TF Animated’s footsteps with Megatron being very tough and difficult to defeat—I think after TF Armada where the Decepticons would run when Optimus Prime came by, made the writers …

Glitter ‘n Gold Jem And Clash—Jem And The Holograms And The Misfits!

Glitter ‘n Gold Jem And Clash—Jem And The Holograms And The Misfits!

Jem is her name and no one else is the same! In 1986 those words were what this fictional rock star sang to legions of little girls and adventure-loving boys, as she and her band, “The Holograms” performed on children’s television sets for about three seasons. Although the cartoon didn’t have a proper ending, it was good enough for fans to have a form of closure as the show came to an end in mid 1988.

Although the dolls were aimed at girls, 20-some years later they make great pieces of history and even better collectables. The Jem dolls were quite …

Movie Review: The FP

Movie Review: The FP

The FP Cover Movie Review: The FP

The FP is a wacky little gem. An utterly ridiculous spoof of 80s movies where macho men from a near-future settle their differences over bouts of Beat Beat Revelation aka Dance Dance Revolution. It’s as fun and stupid as it sounds. The FP is one of those ready-made cult movies that some people will enjoy while others will scratch their heads in disbelief. Made on the cheap by The Trost Brothers (one of the brothers also stars in the movie), it’s a fun ride that pushes its one joke premise to the breaking point without totally sinking. A special mention must …
