July, 2012 is going to be an epic year for comic and movie nerds with Dark Knight Rises (July 20, 2012) and Spider-Man (July 3, 2012) reboot coming out within 3 weeks of each other.  This will be a crazy battle:  Marvel vs. DC, Sony vs WB, who will be the blockbuster king?  I know I’ll watch both but which movie is going to be better?  Let’s look at the important factors:

The big news of the day is the confirmation of the two baddies for Chris Nolan’s third (and final) Batman movie. Rising star and scene-stealer Tom Hardy of Inception fame will be taking on the character of Bane. A complex, dangerous character in the comics (who broke Brue Wayne’s back during the classic Knightfall story arc) will hopefully get the class treatment he deserves after an embarassing turn as a mute freak in the campy and awful Batman and Robin. Funny, fascinating, and nearly impossible to categorize, Exit Through The Gift Shop is one of the best documentaries in years. The documentary focuses on a jovial French filmmaker named Theirry Guetta and his transformation into street artist “Mr Brainwash”. The documentary was made by a hipster street artist named Banksy. Banksy came to my attention after doing an extremely dark opening for The Simpsons involving sweatshops used to produce the very Simpsons products that have made the producers very rich. The third in the series of novels from CS Lewis’s epic fantasy classics finally comes to the big screen after hitting troubled waters because of the performance of Prince Caspian.
