Mass Effect 2 Boxart Game Review: Mass Effect 2

After having just having finished the ending for Mass Effect 2, it beats The Empire Strikes Back in the “Everything’s Screwed” category. It is the sequel to the highly acclaimed original about Commander Shepard embarking on a mission to stop the evil Reapers from annihilating all intelligent life in the far future. The game allows you to create your own Shepard, male or female.

The story starts off with the Normandy, your ship, being torn to bits and pieces, leaving you to die in space. Most of your original team members survived, but has since then moved on. Thanks to …

Collections: Part 2.

Last time in Collections: Part 1 I talked about options and display, in this; part 2, I’ll talk about some Do’s and Dont’s along with alternating and storage.

Do: Enjoy what you are collecting.  If you are going to put out the money and time, you should enjoy all of what you see on display.
Don’t: Collect what ever there is if it doesn’t give you satisfaction or pleasure.  You never want to ask yourself, “Why did I get that?”

Do: Shop around for the best price for a current or older/rare item. You’ll be more …

Toy Review: Hot Toys Matrix Sentinel

Toy Review: Hot Toys Matrix Sentinel

We have a review for the Hot Toys Sentinel courtesy of Eric B.  Is it worth the $60 price tag?  Let’s find out:

I got my pre-ordered Hot Toys Sentinel in today earlier than expected. This is my first and only HT product, as I have yet to encounter anything of theirs that I have felt the need to own. Regardless of how far clothed dolls have come, I still have a strong disinterest toward them as a collector. As far as I’m concerned, they might as well come with a pink hair brush. Of course, I am being facetious when …

X Japan Sets Hollywood On Fire

X Japan Sets Hollywood On Fire

Smoke, firebombs, laser lights and legendary Japanese rock band X Japan had brought the corner of Hollywood and Highland to a stand still.

Notified solely through word of mouth on the Internet, 600 fans poured into the streets to catch a glimpse of their favorite Japanese band and to be apart of filming of the groups music video.

For one night only, the pioneers of Jrock played on top of the Kodak Theater suspended out over the streets below for an extravagant never before seen performance.

This would be the band’s first public US appearance with newly added lead guitarist Sugizo …

Long Beach Fight Night Jan 2010 Recap

4247799390 d7ef05d106 o Long Beach Fight Night Jan 2010 Recap

2010 started with a bang, as Long Beach Fight Night (LBFN) held it’s first event of the New Year.  There were knockouts and submission the fighters put on a good show.  I’ve been covering LBFN for more than a year and I’d have to say this was the best event yet!

Below are the results:

Devin Field vs Leif Lindjhem
This was a back and forth battle in the first round.  Field somewhat controlled the ground in the first round but it was too close to call as both fighters landed solid punches.  In the second round, Lindjem looked winded and …

Collections: Part 1

Collections: Part 1

Many of us either have collections or thought about starting one. Our collection might be small with just a few items, in the middle with quite a bit, or very large that includes everything that we can find on the subject.

This series of articles is intended to give ideas to new collectors and for current collectors, I hope to bring a smile and some nods–maybe even a few new ideas.

All the pictures posted in part one are of my own collections, hopefully they will give a good idea of how much joy or possible sorrow (joke!) that a collection …

Best & Worst of 2009

Best & Worst of 2009

Here’s NERDSociety’s Best & Worst List of 09!

Movie

district 9 new image 4 Best & Worst of 2009
The bad ass mech suit in District 9

Best: District 9

District 9 was a nerd’s wet dream.  For a budget of $30 million, director  Neill Blomkamp created a sci fi movie that had awesome special effects that rivaled big budget movies. Unlike most sci fi movies where it focuses more on special effects,  Blomkamp focused on a compelling story of the struggle between humans and aliens.  The best part of the movie was the last 20 minutes.  It was epic because the action scenes reminded you of your favorite FPS video …

Good Pic 1 Concert Review: Lady Gaga The Monster Ball Tour Camden, NJ

I went to see Lady Gaga last night at the Susquehanna Bank Center with my girlfriend and had a great time. We got there early and the doors didn’t open till 6:30pm so I got to check out the crowd, which was a real mix of gay men, lesbians, straight men, and even a few younger kids with their families. Gaga definitely reaches a wide audience. The place was barely organized and we were herded into the packed lobby to wait for the doors to the concert seating to open. The opening act was a glam rock band called Semi Precious …
