Manhattan Beach drew more than 80,000 people over the weekend to watch the Charlie Saikley 6 man volleyball tournament.  The tournament first began in 1960 by Charlie Saikley, one of the founders of beach volleyball.  Throughout the years, the tournament became known as the “Wimbledon of volleyball” and drew professional athletes as well as regular players just wanting to have a good time.  Today, more than 100 teams enter the tournament and the majority of them have themes consisting of pop culture.  Saturday was the busiest day as all teams played while Sunday had less people because most teams were eliminated.…

A Dell tech support from India took advantage of a woman’s computer ignorance.  Tara Fitzgerald might be ignorant to the digital world but she’s not so innocent in real life as she took nude pics of herself, hoping to send it to her boyfriend.  She uploaded it to her Dell laptop but didn’t know how to find it once it was saved in the hard drive.  She panicked that her 14 year old daughter would find the pics and called Dell’s tech support to find the nudes.  Riyaz Shaikh from India picked up the call and with Fitzgerald’s permission, accessed her …

Never underestimate the bravery and sheer stupidity of nerds.  In Kaneohe, HI, two masked thugs tried to rob a gaming cafe.  The thugs punched the worker and it looked like a scene from Drillbit Taylor as the assailants couldn’t really hurt the victim.  Then the punks told everyone to empty their pockets and cough up their hard earned cash.  In the video, it looked like two guys handed their money.  I’d give them my money too if they had weapons but these masked men didn’t even have anything.  The robbers then made a lethal mistake by taking …

I always thought Comic Con attendees would get violent over limited edition exclusives before any other scheduled events but I was wrong.  USA Today reported that two guys in their mid twenties got into a fight in Hall H as Unversal was presenting Jon Favreau’s(director of Iron Man movies) Cowboy & Aliens.  As the two guy were fighting, one got stabbed in the eye with a pen.  The victim was taken to a hospital while the stabber got restrained and arrested by the cops.   I don’t know the details of the incident but I’m predicting they probably got into a fight …

It seems like the Suicide Girls are not allowed at this year’s Comic Con.  The drama started when a Comic Con board member saw a Suicide Girl sell a DVD copy to a minor at WonderCon (also run by the same people who organize Comic Con).  For those of you that don’t know much about Suicide Girls, they’re a web community consisting of tattoo’d girls photographed in a series of photoshoots.  Majority of the pictures are nude but I see them as artsy more than exploitation shots like Penthouse.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt (JGL to his hipster fans like myself) is in talks to play The Riddler in the next Batman movie……or was he already cast ? It’s hard to seperate fact from fiction, but a lot of major websites are discussing this potential casting. As JGL’s biggest fan, I’d love to see him tackle a villain role in a big budget flick. According to AP, Playboy has launched a new nudity-free (boo) website that is safe to be viewed at the workplace. It looks just like Maxim to me, but at least now you really can go there to read the articles. To be fair, their interviews are typically excellent:
