Arkham City’s official FB fanpage has just released several concept art for the sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum.  Arkham City will be the biggest Batman game to date.  The original setting was in a prison.  The sequel will expand and players will be able to control Batman throughout Gotham City.  Based on the previews, the main villain will be Hugo Strange, to possibly coincide with the villain from the third Batman movie.

Kotaku has reported that comic living legend, Jim Lee will be on PSN tonight to promote DC Universe Online.  He will go toe to toe against the IGN staff and use Future Joker as his character.  The lucky fans who were fortunate enough to be invited to the beta can join the battle.

The creator said he used Megaman sprites. Nicely done, even the Daft Punk music was converted to 8-bit.…

Even though Tron: Legacy was number three at the box office for its second weekend, it is said to have only grossed an estimated $ 20+ million over Christmas domestically for a total of $88 million, according to Deadline Hollywood, solidifying fears that Disney will have a hard time recouping the $150 million production budget and the $120 million marketing budget without an overseas boom.  This they say is due in part to the mixed reviews the movie is getting by critics who obviously refuse to see the movie for what it is: a highly visual thrill-ride.

What do they have in common? Big news for fans of the popular Vocaloid character Hatsune Miku, now you can hook up the Xbox Kinect to your PC and use the motion-capture to make Miku dance in real time. Here’s the video released by the developer of the MikuMikuDance program, Yu Higuchi.  (This guy’s dancing is pretty hilarious, too).

Concept artist, Carlos D’Anda just released the artwork for the Batman game, Arkham Asylum.  He posted the awesome images on Deviant Art.  I always like the concept art more than the final product.  For me, there’s no limit with the sketches.  The artist can just portray the subject as he sees it.  Then it moves to other area of development where sometimes the concept isn’t captured anymore.  I think overall, Rocksteady succesfully translated D’Anda’s style of exaggerated and dynamic art.

The sequel to the game, Arkham City, comes out next year.

If you ever go to Portland State University, make sure to check out the 8-Bit Hallway.  Beth Olsen and art/social practices majors decorated their hallway with the Mario world.  The hallway has gold coins, bricks, pipes and even a castle.  Their intention was to make people feel relaxed and relieve their stress.  Beth was interviewed by Asylum and said “There is just something about ‘Super Mario Bros.’ that everyone seems to relate to, even if they never really played it as a kid.
