New Dark Knight Vehicle: Bat-Pod

New Dark Knight Vehicle: Bat-Pod

Why stop with the Batman comic review, I was surfing the net and found this Today show footage of the newest Batman vehicle: Bat-Pod. I already saw stills of this vehicle a couple of months ago and my opinion still hasn’t changed. This vehicle doesn’t seem practical in a realistic Batman movie. Add to the fact, he’ll look ridiculous riding it. But with dark lighting and angles, I’m sure he won’t look as awkard as Meredith Viera. The bad guys could just bump the “bike” and Batman would be out of business. But what do I know, Chris Nolan has already …

Batman #666 Review – Devil in Gotham City?

Batman #666 Review – Devil in Gotham City?

batman666 Batman #666 Review Devil in Gotham City?

This stand alone issue deals with Damian, Bruce Wayne’s son, taking over his dad’s mantel. Since Damian’s mother is Talia Al Ghul, Rha Al Ghul’s daughter, he is trained by the league of assasins to show no pity to the criminals. His violent actions are not welcomed by the new Gotham Police but that is only of the problems he encounters.

I won’t spoil anything else since it’s such a fun and interesting read. The new Batman is confused whether to follow his dad’s footsteps, or Rha’s Al Ghul’s. Even though it’s only a stand alone issue, Grant Morrison’s vision of …

Video Game Review: BioShock (Xbox 360)

“I chose Rapture.” – Andrew Ryan

bioshock cover11 Video Game Review: BioShock (Xbox 360)

It’s the year 1960.  You’re in a plane, with a cigarette in your left hand, and a present in your right hand. You’re on top of the world.  But things get a turn for the worse.  The plane you are in crashes in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.  It seems like you’re the only survivor floating around the ocean while the fire around you is growing and growing.

You start to swim away from the fire and notice a lighthouse in the distance.  As you enter the lighthouse, the door closes, leaving you in …

510uGtzH%2B0L. SS500 DVD Review: Redline

Redline is the ultimate vanity project.  A 26 million dollar street racing flick financed by a rich punk producer using exotic sports cars from his private collection.  Redline makes Fast and the Furious look like Hamlet.  It’s got awful acting, terrible direction and an even worse “script”.  Don’t be fooled by the shiny DVD cover that promises shiny cars and even shinier women, the cars are the coolest thing about the film.  Redline even commits the ultimate cardinal sin for a street racing film, the races are tedious and poorly shot.  I’ve seen more exciting street racing at the corner of …

Film Review: Stardust

Film Review: Stardust

stardust bigreleaseposter Film Review: Stardust

Stardust is a magical, hugely entertaining fantasy adventure based on a novel by master storyteller Neil Gaiman.  Gaiman previously wrote the screenplay for the sadly under-seen film Mirror Mask and Stardust is even better.  A big budget adventure teaming with inventive ideas and great acting and storytelling.  Stardust is currently tanking at the box office but nothing can prevent it from being considered a fantasy favorite in the coming years when people discover it for themselves on DVD and cable TV. It evokes memories of the much-loved Princess Bride and is on that level of excellence.

The story is simplicity …

DVD Review: The Lookout

DVD Review: The Lookout

thelookout posterbig DVD Review: The Lookout

The Lookout is a nifty indie film with great performances from its cast and some cool visuals and entertaining storytelling.  It manages to evoke both Memento and Fargo, but it feels fresh and different enough to stand out on its own thanks to some great acting, a very good script, and excellent direction.  The standout is Joseph Gordon Levitt, who is turning out to be the best young actor in Hollywood.

Levitt plays a hockey player/town golden boy named Chris Pratt who is left brain-damaged late one night after a horrific car accident.  He has only one real friend, a blind …

UFC 74 Predictions

UFC 74 Predictions

ufc74 UFC 74 Predictions

It has been about 5 weeks since the last UFC event. Add to the fact that Pride FC is pretty much done and has not had events in months and you have one hungry MMA fan. UFC 73 was pretty uneventful and lop-sided for the most part. When it wasn’t lop-sided we had a draw between Ortiz and Evans. Both fighters wanted rematch after the fight but I don’t think the fans want it. The fight showed that Ortiz has always been overrated and Evans is a boring fighter.

Enough with my rant and let’s look ahead to this Saturday’s event, …

Not-So-Original Haruhi Suzumiya

Not-So-Original Haruhi Suzumiya

Shame on you, Kyoto Animation, you have lost an immense amount of respect from me.

For those who don’t know yet, the ending of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya has swept across the globe, entrancing anime fans East and West to dance to the ending song, Hare Hare Yukai. What’s so special about the ending is that the dance is so well known.

However, lo and behold, I found out that all those dance moves have been taken from a J-pop group, Berryz Kobo. I shouldn’t really care since they both have settled this, but the fact that Kyoto Animation didn’t …

Paramount/Dreamworks to go HD exclusive.

spr Paramount/Dreamworks to go HD exclusive.

The home theatre forums are buzzing today with the news that Paramount and its sister company, Dreamworks are going to be HD-DVD exclusive. Prior to this announcement, Paramount was format neutral, which meant they were releasing movies on both Blu Ray and HD.

So why is this big news? First of all, Paramount and Dreamworks have some big movies under their belt, here’s a partial list:

  • Transformers – Probably the biggest blow to Sony
  • Shrek franchise
  • Saving Private Ryan
  • Collateral
  • Braveheart
  • Titanic
  • Gladiator
  • Godfather Trilogy
  • Indiana Jones Trilogy

Transformers alone will sell players, the other titles are just bonus. I know …

Tough Decisions

Tough Decisions

x360vsps30zh1 Tough Decisions

Oh man, here I am, still undecided on which next gen consol to buy.

I was so close to buying an Xbox 360.  It seemed promising too.  the price drop of 50 bucks for the premium.  That’s 350 bucks now.  And they released a newer version of the 360 with HDMI already in it.  This newer version also comes with a newer chip and a new cooling system.  That means the ring of death won’t be popping up anytime soon.  A bunch of kickass demos are out too, like Bioshock, Katamari, Medal of Honor.  And the 360 has a better selection …
