The Lincoln Lawyer is a slick and entertaining old-school legal thriller. It’s an old-school John Grisham style flick that should appeal to fans of his books and the movies based upon them. Matthew McConaughey gives his best performance in years as a slick, arrogant lawyer who cuts corners, represents scumbags, and struts to hip hop music in cool aviator Ray Ban sunglasses. It’s a tribute to McConaughey that he somehow still earns audience sympathy considering the character’s initial callow worldview and attitude. Smirking and preening, McConaughey and a game and solid supporting cast, make The Lincoln Lawyer an entertaining escapist entertainment.…

It took a few months but, finally a few memorable figures have been sent as part of the subscription to Mattycollector.com’s Club Eternia.

 King Hssss is detailed extremely well, he has a fully articulated upper body including his head and arms. The original figure had a shell of the disguised form of the leader of the Snake Men. Waiting For Superman, the critically acclaimed documentary on America’s failing public school system is now available on DVD, blu-ray, and on-demand and is easily one of the best movies of the year. If this doc doesn’t piss you off, it’s time to start checking for a pulse. Filmmaker Davis Guggenheim is one angry liberal who uses facts and hipster animation and charts (very similiar to Michael Moore’s influential style) to illustrate his points about how our public school system is broken and ways it might be fixed. I am Number Four is a hodgepodge of a bunch of alien teenager movies and television series. It has strong shades of Smallville, Kyle XY, and John Carpenter’s Starman, although without Starman’s complexity and sensitivity. I Am Number Four has some decent casting and after a slow start, some roaring action and special effects. The February figures are in! This month offers the Club Eternia exclusive figure Preternia Disguise He-Man complete with fold out map of Etheria.

When I first heard about Preternia Disguise He-Man I was quite unimpressed. The figure shows very little detail being that He-Man is robed and has a robber mask. Seeing the figure up close still makes me feel unimpressed–He’s no Wun-Dar but, he is cool in his own way.

Monsters is well-made and well-shot on a tiny budget (under a million, around 800K), but if you’re going by the title alone, the movie is ultimately a failure. There just aren’t enough monsters in Monsters to make it a must-see for fans of creature features like Godzilla or The Host. Monsters is a mix of Cloverfield and District 9, and while it’s not great, at least it’s not racist, gory and pointless like District 9 was. Monsters is a parable about immigration and that’s a worthy subject, even if it is handled in a ham-fisted, obvious manner.

Miku Hatsune the aqua-haired diva is probably one of the biggest stars in Japan. Starting out like most Pop Idol’s singing on computer screens after the USER typed in the words on the Vocaloid 2 music program.

From these over the counter roots Miku became a featured music video star on YouTube. She had finally hit the big time and her agent got her gigs in retail sold CD’s, MP3’s, video games, action figures and graphic’s for race cars.
