Halloween weekend is approaching and this Spartan hasn’t worked out in awhile.  I will still be donning my armor. BTW, just went to Halloween Haunt at Knott’s and they had a show called “The Hanging” where they make fun of pop culture. The Spartans made an appearance and got their asses kicked. BOOOOO!!!

After doing some research on HD-DVD players a couple of months ago, I decided to go with Toshiba’s HD-A1. It’s a first generation player with capability of transmitting lossless sound through HDMI or analog. I chose the player for the latter. It’s important to me because my three year old Onkyo receiver does not have HDMI but does have analog. Second and third generation players in the $200-$400 does not have analog output.

Michael Clayton may be a passionate pet political project for its star and producer George Clooney, but something got lost in translation. Clayton goes from incoherent to un-involving, to a total bore, in near record time. Clayton has some nice acting and is well-made, but after a while, I just didn’t care any longer. It’s a slow-paced “message” film that at times feels lifeless and overly stagy. The acting is good (especially from Clooney), but after a while I gave up. It’s a thriller minus any thrills or nuance. The only thing I learned from the overrated Michael Clayton was …
Randy Couture, the only fighter in UFC to hold belts in different weight divisions, resigns. Couture said he was constantly getting screwed by Zuffa’s management, owner of the UFC. He didn’t appreciate constantly being lied to and the politics they played. Couture also felt he didn’t have challenge anymore since Fedor Emelianenko (Pride FC Champ), did not sign with UFC. Instead, Fedor signed with M-1, an organization that is rumored to have been bought by Mark Cuban and Vince McMahon. Couture has also been part of the commentating team for the main event fights.

EA just bought BioWare and Pandemic for around $850 million. Pandemic’s known for Mercenaries and BioWare with Jade Empire, KOTOR, and Mass Effect. This is bad news for gamers in general. EA has a reputation of quantity and not quality.
When they bought the exclusive rights to make NFL games, the genre suffered. Now you have only one choice to choose form, and that would be Madden. Reviews for that game was so-so and since there’s no competition, they can make shitty ass games and people would still buy it.

Oh man, a game where Sonic and Mario will be competing in the Olympics? (Mario and Sonic at the Olympics) Once rivals, videogame company Sega and Nintendo is teaming up and it doesn’t end there. Sonic is a new addition to the Super Smash Bros Melee game out for Wii early next year of 2008.
Does that mean Sony and Microsoft can team up in the future? Just imagine, Halo Gear Solid, Mass Fantasy, or Heavenly Shock. Ok, I’ll stop now.…
In preparations for the DVD/HD-DVD release of Transformers Oct 16, the movie site has some new stuff on there. The coolest feature on the site would have to be the one where you have Optimus Prime call your friends; similar to the Sam Jackson’s “Snakes on a Plane” phone call.Â

Halloween is just around the corner, here’s some great horror rental ideas for everyone, please feel free to leave comments and list some of your favorite modern horror flicks.

Okay let’s recap what happened to the previous 360’s I’ve owned:
1st – Bought the console May, 2006. Returned it after a couple of weeks because it kept freezing.
2nd – Bought in July of 06. Got sent back for repair in August this year for the ever famour: RED RING OF DEATH(RROD).
