Comic book artist, Michael Turner passed away on Friday, June 27th, he was 37.  He was diagnosed with cancer in 2000.  Even though the cancer was treated, it kept coming back and finally got to him.  Turner was best known for Witchblade.  Later in his career, he worked with DC and Marvel.  More info about his life at comicbookresources.com

I’ve met Michael Turner several times at comic conventions.  Every time I met him, he was always friendly and appreciate of his fans.  He even had a free mini seminar about getting into the industry in one of the conventions.  He was …

Guilty Pleasure Rave: One Tree Hill

Guilty Pleasure Rave: One Tree Hill

OneTreeHill Guilty Pleasure Rave: One Tree Hill

“Tree Hill is just a place somewhere in the world, but if you look closer, you might see someone like you. Someone trying to find their way, someone trying to find themself” — Lucas Scott, One Tree Hill

One Tree Hill has been my not so secret guilty pleasure since it debuted on television back in 2003. It was meant to be the next Dawson’s Creek for The WB but it has been on the bubble at the end of almost every season till this one, now its a solid little niche hit for The CW and has already been renewed …

Film Review: The Incredible HULK

Film Review: The Incredible HULK

theincrediblehulk galleryposter Film Review: The Incredible HULK

This has been a very good summer for comic book films, they have been very high quality, exciting and entertaining so far. The best is yet to come I’m sure when The Dark Knight opens in July. My only major complaint so far is that there have been a lack of compelling villains in both Iron Man and now in The Incredible HULK, a problem that I’m sure Heath Ledger will remedy in The Dark Knight.…

Rant of The Week – MGS 4 Cutscenes

mgs4 t 52 Rant of The Week MGS 4 Cutscenes

I just beat the game as well and DAMN, are the cutscenes long. Some probably range from 30-40 minutes. It seemed like I was watching more cut scenes than actually playing the game. Hideo Kojima, the creator and director of the game just doesn’t know when to end his cut scenes. I know he’s going for the cinematic experience but I want to play, not watch a movie.

Even the ending is overly bloated. Just when it already has a perfect ending, we get more scenes that just stops the momentum.

SPOILERS AHEAD – HIGHLIGHT TO READ
So I thought we

MGS Theme Created in 74?

MGS Theme Created in 74?

Yeah, I’m late in the game but I just found this out after finishing up MGS4 (I didn’t want to spoil myself so I steered clear from anything Metal Gear related).

The video above shows the instrumental “The Snowstorm – Winter Road” by Sviridov.  It is eerily similar to the Metal Gear Solid theme. This piece was created in ’74, clearly way before when Metal Gear was created.  The person responsible for the MGS theme is Tappy, back in ’98 when the first Metal Gear Solid game came out (Harry Gregson-Williams only rearranged it for MGS2 and MGS3.)

Nothing is certain …

DVD Review: In Bruges

DVD Review: In Bruges

51l1m%2B%2BCXvL. SS500 DVD Review: In Bruges

In Bruges is one of the best surprises of the year so far. It’s hilarious and extremely well-written and acted by its expert cast. It works as a travelogue of a beautiful area of Belgium as well as a razor-sharp dark comedy with flashes of brutal violence and genuine pathos along the way. The three leads are particularly good and the supporting cast all does fine work. This is an amazing debut film from Irish Martin McDonaough. He is known for his stage plays and makes a terrific transition to the world of film. Collin Farrell in particular is surprisingly good …

This past Saturday, June 21st, I went to Glendale with my brother to cover Weekend of Heroes. I’ve never been to a 1/6th military convention so I didn’t know what to expect. Is it going to be all 1/6th figures, or is there more to it?

Once we got there, my questions were answered immediately. As we entered the floor, I noticed military re-enactors and a bunch of guns that looked like airsoft. I expected more people for the event. John Lu, the promoter of the event, said that it started dying down in the afternoon but that it …

MGS4 is Finally Mine!

MGS4 is Finally Mine!

I told myself that I’d wait until the PS3 would come down in price.  But everyone keeps on saying how good Metal Gear Solid 4 is, so I finally bit the dust and bought it.

I could of saved money by going to Wal-Mart, but I came too late.  I could of bought the Metal Gear PS3 bundle, but they are hard to come by now…Shit.  So I settled for the 40 gig PS3 without the PS2 full compatibility and no Dualshock 3 controller.  But at least I got Spider-Man 3 for Blu-ray.

Now my 360 is sitting in the backburner …

Music CD Review: Katy Perry “One of the Boys”

Music CD Review: Katy Perry “One of the Boys”

618Onv1jgRL. SS500 Music CD Review: Katy Perry One of the Boys

Katy Perry’s radio-friendly smash hit “I Kissed a Girl” is the latest song to get on the annoying “pseudo-lesbian” gravy train. It’s really just a cynical product and it would be easy to dismiss it as such, but that would be selling the song short. As grating as the trend is, the song is a terrific piece of pop rock, as easy on the ears as the theme is grating and overused. “I Kissed a Girl” is one of the best songs out there on top 40 radio, but the rest of Perry’s CD does not live up to that song. …
