walking dead horde Teaser: AMCs The Walking Dead Season 2

Warning!  This trailer contains some graphic… uh, zombie killing…. as you can imagine.  Gives a whole new meaning to the term “double-tap.”  Apparently, this teaser debuted during the Season 4 premier of Breaking Bad.

I actually starting watching this show half-way through Season 1 and had to go back and catch up the previous episodes on demand.  It’s  a great show with decent acting and lots of good old fashioned zombies.  I’m sort of partial to the zombies who do that slow meandering walk like they woke up with a hangover.  There’s also plenty of irony and absurdity as one would …

Anime Expo 2011 in Pictures

Anime Expo 2011 in Pictures

This had to to be one of the most fun AX I’ve ever been to.  The first ever hologram concert from Hatsune Miku brought great energy to the expo.  Attendees were really cool and the cosplayers were out in full force.  Some of these costumes are really getting sophisticated, even using mechanical devices to capture the look and feel of their favorite characters.  I love steam punk and they were represented well.  The Luke Skywalker version really stood out from the rest because it took an iconic character and put a new twist to it.

Below are several pics from the …

Anime Expo in Los Angeles, Ca is in full swing with it’s first day of panels, events and merch finishing up.

Just ’cause the panels and main hall are closed doesn’t mean you have to go home, however.  There’s all kinds of after hours entertainment like karaoke, tabletop gaming, video screenings, all
ages dance, and more continuing through the night.

I am looking forward to Hatsune Miku show, which will be her debut on an American stage – or should I say screen.  This blue-green haired, pixel maiden will be quite the event, she is sure to be the object of …

Batman #1 Cover By Capullo

Batman #1 Cover By Capullo

Famous Spawn artist, Greg Capullo will be the artist for the revamped Batman comic starting this September.  Below is the cover:

batman capullo Batman #1 Cover By Capullo

I loved Capullo’s work in Spawn but I don’t like his interpretation of Batman.  I could see Spider-Man with that pose but not the caped crusader.  The cover also has Killer Croc, Two Face and Riddler in it.  Maybe Scarcrow on the left.  It’ll be interesting to see how they’ll approach the story.…

Movie Review: Green Lantern

Movie Review: Green Lantern

Green Lantern Movie Review: Green Lantern

Green Lantern is an intergalactic mess. A lame dud from start to finish. The opening 15 minutes or so have such incoherent and labored narration that they will turn off even fanboys, and put everyone else in the audience in a comatose state. The almost 200 million dollar flick is nowhere near as good as The Dark Knight or X Men: First Class and it makes Thor look like a charming underplayed masterpiece. The acting isn’t very good (Reynolds smirks in a sort of Top Gun-lite performance) and the effects are overblown and noisy. The pacing is also particularly bad. The …

After having written scripts for Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, not to mention the Blade trilogy and Nolan’s upcoming Man of Steel starring Henry Cavill, it would seem David S. Goyer has cornered the market on writing comic to film adaptations.  (Where was he back when Daredevil and Elektra came out, I wonder?)  According to Deadline, Showtime now has Goyer working on a new TV series based on the 100 Bullets comic put out by Vertigo/DC.

Here is a synopsis from its third issue:

Crafted by writer Brian Azzarello and artist Eduardo Risso,

Bill Clinton seems to think the show is great.  According to a press release, the former US president said “What an amazing and historic night on Broadway. New York has never seen anything like Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark and I am very proud of them for not giving up, it was fabulous.”

Bono and Edge of U2, who wrote songs for the show, were there for the opening night festivities.  Bono had to say this about the show: “Wow, what a sense of achievement tonight. Some people won’t like it. Some people want to kill us. ”  Wait, some people …

Yes folks, Fox has offered the job to James Mangold, whom has directed serious films before like 3:10 To Yuma. Yes, he also directed Knight and Day, which was awful beyond belief. But, since this won’t be a romantic-action comedy flick (i hope not), Mangold should do well.

The original pick, Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan), would have been very interesting to say the least. But, James Mangold should be able to pull off a serious tone also, if FOX leaves him be. Although, reports have already circulated that the original script has been changed heavily, so  who knows …
