Jersey Shore Music Review: Jersey Shore Soundtrack CD (MTV)

The soundtrack to Jersey Shore is a bit of a mixed bag, but more often than not, it totally succeeds as a party CD, and that’s all it wants to be. Based on the popular MTV reality series, the Jersey Shore soundtrack is a continuous mix of 16 dance tracks featuring some extremely popular hip-hop/electronica artists. It’s the lesser-known (at least in the US) electronic stars who really shine.

Enrique Iglesias gets the party started with his cheese-whiz lead single “I LIke It”. Pitbull struggles to add edge to Enrique’s bland vocals, but the beat is sick and the song grows …

Isaac Florentine 13 Interview with Isaac Florentine (Director of Undisputed 3)

NERDSociety recently interviewed action director Isaac Florentine about his career and his latest flick, Undisputed 3. Undisputed 3 is easily the best direct to DVD movie in years and features some brutal, stylish fights, and solid storytelling. Undisputed 3 is currently available on DVD and Blu-Ray everywhere (I got my copy at Target).

NERDSociety (NS): Isaac, please tell our readers about yourself. How did you get started in directing ? What about directing action movies in particular appeals to you.

Isaac Florentine (IF): I grew up in Israel in Tel Aviv, a vibrant city. From a young age I …

Undisputed 3 DVD Review: Undisputed 3: Redemption

Undisputed 3 is an action treat for fans of hardcore, bloody fighting flicks. It blows away the big budget Hollywood fighting flicks and everything else in its path of awesomeness. The movie is easily the best Undisputed of the series (though the second one was also very good), and features some of the best fights I’ve seen in a long time. The story also serves the action and holds your interest throughout. This is one awesome flick. It’s so macho that you’ll have to shower off the smell of brutality and old spice after 96 minutes or so of Undisputed action. …

Things I Learned From Sony Tour!

Things I Learned From Sony Tour!

3055926728 6aa9271bc4 Things I Learned From Sony Tour!

Last Friday, I was able to secure tickets for the Sony backlot tour in Culver City. I’ve only been to Culver City several times before but there are two things I love about it:

1) The rich movie history.
2) Great lighting. The light is very soft and creates a dramatic effect. Maybe that’s why studios settled in the city.

Finding a parking spot was tough because all of the spaces said “Reserved”. I had to exit out of the lot and come back in and asked a security guard how the parking garage worked. It turned out I had to …

Black Rock Shooter: Sexy Anime Style At It’s Best!

Black Rock Shooter: Sexy Anime Style At It’s Best!

Art1 Black Rock Shooter: Sexy Anime Style At Its Best!

From the Good Smile Company comes a Vocaloid spin-off called Black Rock Shooter. The character was created from a song produced from the Yamaha Vocaloid 2 program Hatsune Miku.

For those unfamilar with what the Vocaloid program is: it’s a computer program that sings songs from the words the user types. Hatsune Miku is an Anime themed voice–there are of course more professional sounding voices in other programs such as in Vocaloid 1.

The Miku program had “exploded” after it’s arrival with the creation of statues, figures and other merchandise. YouTube is full of homemade songs and videos–some which …

 Vintage Rambo Toy

This week’s vintage toy goes to Rambo.  The figure is based on the 1986 cartoon show, Rambo and the Forces of Freedom. Unlike Chuck Norris’ cartoon show which only had 5 episodes, Rambo had 65 episodes.  Rambo battled against neo nazis.  That’s right, neo nazis for a kids show.

 Vintage Rambo Toy

Toys back in the 80’s were pretty damn violent. That’s what I love about the era. Our hero John Rambo comes with a rocket launcher so he can blow shit up.  He also comes with a sleeveless hoodie with a bald eagle on the front of it.

I like this figure because …

Worst Idea Ever: Remaking The Wizard of Oz (yes, it might actually happen)

Wizard of Oz Worst Idea Ever: Remaking The Wizard of Oz (yes, it might actually happen)

The Los Angeles Times has posted a terrifying article about Warner Brothers mulling a remake of The Wizard of Oz. The remake could be based on one of two existing story ideas, each one worse than the one before it. Warner is reportedly inspired by the massive success of Timmy in Underland. My only two questions are: Will the formerly talented Timmy Burton direct and destroy my childhood in one massive swoop and who will Johnny play ? My guess is Depp will be The Scarecrow…..he can prance and overact and be “weird” and be called a genius by Emos and …

A Look Back At Final Fantasy!

A Look Back At Final Fantasy!

PS3 FF13 A Look Back At Final Fantasy!

Final Fantasy is a video game series from the role playing genre that has been entertaining gamers for years. With Final Fantasy XIII on the market and being featured in special sets from Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 (The Xbox offers a better set–unless you live in Japan where the PS3 has an awesome white console with an image of the main character from the game on the top side).

XBOX FF13 A Look Back At Final Fantasy!

I’m going to focus on the main Final Fantasy games and not go off the number count to the spin-offs or side games (except X-2.) I’m also going to start with……

CG Needs To Be Better In Movies

When dinosaurs ruled the earth Jurassic Park CG Needs To Be Better In Movies

Back in the summer of 93, a dinosaur movie called Jurassic Park came out.  The dinosaurs were believable: they had weight, moved very organic, looked seamless with the real world.  Rightfully so, the filmmakers bragged that they used CGI along with miniature models to create the dinosaurs.  They said that 10 years into the future, the sky’s the limit: Creating creatures that are so realistic that you can’t tell the difference between real actors and CG characters.

Fast forward 17 years later, to 2010 and what do we get? Crappy ass CGI.  Take for example, the remake of Wolfman with a …

Greetings Poster DVD Review: Greetings From The Shore

When I was a kid, I loved the jersey shore. I still do. As a child, I remember family trips to Wildwood fondly, and later as a teen Cape May. Ocean City is my new favorite area of the jersey shore but whether you do Wildwood or fist pump to house music in Seaside, the jersey shore is a fun, almost magical place. Anyone nostalgic for jersey shore thrills would do well to pick up Greetings From The Shore. The small independent film I saw a few years back in downtown Philadelphia is now available on DVD online and there are …
